The Base for Children & Young People

Our specialist service for children and families

A range of creative therapy and support options for children and young people

Our core purpose is to prevent and reduce the impact of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and poor mental health  on children, young people and/ or adults through our holistic services at Future Living Hertford.

Taking the research and data we have gained over the years, we have developed a children’s service, The Base, designed around the specific needs of children.

The Base is open to all, but specialises in working with children and young people who have been affected by domestic abuse.

This dynamic service is actively involved in research to influence policy and practice at a local and national level.

Children’s Voices Campaign

Future Living is campaigning for change for children to have their thoughts, feelings and voices heard, particularly in the judicial arena where contact orders are being decided.

We hope that with your help we will be able to influence and support those decision makers to ensure the quality of child arrangements especially where domestic abuse is involved.

You can help us by signing up to support our campaign and make a difference to children’s lives, breaking the cycle of domestic abuse for the future.

Theory of change for Children & Young People

Neurobiological research confirms that stressful or traumatic experiences early in life can have a profound and destructive impact on the brain. Mental health problems, domestic violence, substance abuse, and homelessness have an overwhelming impact on the child’s stress management system.

Future Livings approach is unique in combining a comprehensive, wrap around range of services utilising a range of s psychotherapeutic intervention for children and young people, resulting in long-term positive outcomes for children and families.
